CHILD SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The FFHL established the Child Sponsorship Program because many parents have been unemployed or underemployed for years and the funds are just not available for anything but the essentials. The schools acquaint the student with the values of both family life and of society so as to benefit from both. Each school attempts to meet the needs of all those who are deprived physically, morally, economically, and to welcome the stranger. Education provided by these schools instills Christian values and understanding of worldwide issues such as poverty and social injustice while at the same time teaches how to make the right choices towards peace, solidarity and development.

Franciscan schools were the first schools established in the Holy Land around the year of 1518. The friars, given charge of the holy sites, quickly understood that these would have little importance without the “living stones” who are the Christians. Thus, together with the sanctuaries, parishes and schools arose. To this day, they provide religious instruction for every student, attempting to shun religious fanaticism while at the same time encouraging true piety. For peace in the Holy Land to develop and flourish the only choice is for Muslims, Christians, and Jews to live with mutual respect that is instilled early in their education.
“WITH TOLERANCE AND COEXISTENCE COMES THE STAGE OF EQUALITY WHERE ONE ACCEPTS THE OTHER AS HE IS WITH ALL HIS RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES.
IN MANY WAYS, THE FUTURE IS LINKED WITH AND DEPENDENT3 UPON THIS TYPE OF EDUCATION.”
The FFHL has already paired hundreds of children with sponsors for the remainder of their elementary school years, and some through their secondary education. We have additional children in Jericho, Jerusalem, Nazareth, as well as other cities, who also need sponsors. The program encourages individuals to assist with the cost of tuition, books, and at least one uniform.
The Foundation has been able to provide excellent opportunities for children in the Holy Land through the generosity of people like you.
But there are still many more children who need our help.
The annual sponsorship of only $500 is an investment in the life of a child as well as the future of Christianity in the Holy Land. For those who make this commitment, we kindly ask that you consider sponsoring each child through their 7 year primary school education whenever possible to assure the children their educational needs are met.
