FRANCISCAN BOYS HOME
The Franciscan Boy Home is one of many Custodial social institutions. This Home was founded in 2007 as an affiliation to Terra Sancta College in order to open a new window of hope that was dimmed by the darkness of poverty and misery for children who lead a miserable life and live in a painful reality, hoping that this Home would be a lifeline and a minaret by which they would be guided towards a better and more pleasant future despite the hardships of life and the sting of sorrows.
“THE HOME IS NOT JUST THE PLACE WHERE YOU LIVE,
BUT THE PLACE WHERE YOU ARE UNDERSTOOD.”
The Boys Home is located in the city of Bethlehem, only a short distance from the birthplace of our Lord Jesus Christ. This Home was equipped by the Custody of the Holy Land to embrace boys between the ages of 6 and 18, children who were driven into a world of pain and suffering for a variety of reasons. Some of these reasons include being orphaned, abandoned, neglected through divorce, drug abuse within their family, physical and emotional abuse and other socioeconomic problems that our Christian Palestinian community faces.
“IT IS ESSENTIAL
TO STATE SOUND STRATEGIES BASED ON EDUCATION
IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE
THE NOBLE GOALS OF THE HOME.”
The Franciscan Boy Home was established to care for Christian children in dire need in Bethlehem area. Often these children suffer from serious social, psychological and economic problems. The Boys Home provides them with a safe and caring shelter where their educational and spiritual needs are met. The Home affords them with a convenient environment that helps them in the process of social adaptation and formation. This happens according to sound professional scientific programs in cooperation with supervisors, clergy, teachers and specialists in order to help these young Christians to provide the best possible environment to develop.
The Home operates on the principles of hard work and Christian values of respecting human rights, living in love and practicing repeated forgiveness according to the teaching of Jesus Christ, and the call of St. Francis of Assisi, founder of the Order of Friars Minor (Franciscans).
