“Then going out he [Jesus] went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him. When he arrived at the place he said to them, “Pray that you may not undergo the test.” After withdrawing about a stone’s throw from them and kneeling, he prayed, saying, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me; still, not my will but yours be done.” (And to strengthen him an angel from heaven appeared to him. He was in such agony and he prayed so fervently that his sweat became like drops of blood falling on the ground.)” Lk 22, 39-44

Join us today, Thursday April 9th at 9 pm GMT (2 pm EST, 11 am PST) as Christians all over the world will pray in unity. As we collectively pray, the spirit that guides our prayers shares with Jesus at that moment the suffering, anguish, and struggle of His battle; and through this sharing with Christ, we are able to encounter the true joy and peace that is experienced through self-abandonment of oneself to our Father’s will according to His love for us.

In Jerusalem, the custodians of the Holy Land, the Sons of Saint Francis, protectors of the Garden of GETHSEMANE will meditate on the agony of Jesus in the Garden of Olives. During this hour, they allow spirit to guide them in prayer.

The Franciscan Foundation of the Holy Land’s Chairman, Br. Francesco Patton, OFM, will lead in today’s (04/09/2020) prayer.

We ask that you join him and your Christian brothers and sisters in prayer on this day. To learn more about this sacred movement to understand how to participate, visit https://www.horasancta.org/en/index.php#ora-santa.
